About simon speight
Simon graduated from the Central Institute of Technology in 1998 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Podiatry. During this time he was awarded the Jim Philps prize for meritorious effort worthy of merit.
In the early 2000’s, Simon became the President of Podiatry New Zealand for 5 years, this is the peak professional body which advances the quality of and access to podiatry.
Simon has been a guest speaker at local and national conferences and served on advisory committees. Simon also provides on-going mentoring and education to new graduates and podiatry students.
Having completed 6 years of part time study including several trips to the U.K. to attend the University of Brighton Simon gained a Master of Science degree in Podiatry with diabetes in 2018 which was awarded the class of distinction.
To the best of his knowledge Simon is the first Podiatrist to be awarded this specialist qualification in New Zealand and Australia.
Simon is passionate about his profession and provides a high standard of care in general podiatry services, including minor surgery, biomechanics, orthotic therapy, diabetic foot disease and dermoscopic melanoma assessment.
Simon is also a reviewer for a scientific health journal the Journal of Qualitative Health Research.
Simon was a Clinical Educator at AUT University for 3 years.
He now works part time at the Middlemore hospital dealing with complex diabetic foot problems.
