Blisters are the separation of the skin layers and the accumulation of serum between them. Arch blisters are the most common primary blister complaint that presents at Speight’s. I see these in clients who have just returned to running and they usually have a goal in mind, such as competing in a ½ Marathon in 5 weeks time. Blisters can be very frustrating. Almost exclusively this arises from the position achieved by the foot in gait. Shearing stresses occur and the blister forms.
At Speight’s we examine your gait and we may be able to alter your running style to prevent blistering from occurring.
